KidShare
Protecting the children of families in transition.

KidShare is a program that helps families in special circumstances nurture and protect the precious relationship between parents and their children. When encounters between estranged parents create an atmosphere of tension, anger and fear, children suffer emotional and even physical consequences. KidShare creates a safe environment where children may be transferred from one parent to another without the parents ever coming in contact. KidShare is the neutral setting that enables parents and children to spend quality time together and build strong relationships while protecting the children from emotional damage or possible physical harm.

Services include:

  • neutral and safe settings for estranged parents to exchange children for visitation

  • court-ordered, supervised settings to protect children when visiting non-custodial parents

  • support groups for children in divorced and divorcing families

  • Helping Children Cope With Divorce seminars

  • counseling for custodial and non-custodial parents

  • counseling for children in divorced and divorcing families

  • Parent education classes or workshops

  • therapeutic supervision to families where trained therapists help build a positive bond between parent & child

We also offer Group Supervised Visitation, designed for parents of infants, toddlers and young children who are required to visit with their children under supervision. Our goal is to provide a safe and nurturing environment, a cost effective means for parents to visit with their young children, and the opportunity for parents to learn positive child rearing behaviors from each other and allow children of like ages to interact in a safe and healthy environment.

If you are in need of similar services in the Medical Center Area see the Safe Haven program description.

This year, approximately 1500 families will take advantage of KidShare services.

Funding sources for KidShare include the Office of the Texas Attorney General, Bexar County Juvenile Probation, private foundations, client fees, and individual contributions.
