History

  • Community-based organization offering services in Early Childhood Education consisting of developmentally appropriate school-readiness content in the domains of language and literacy, mathematics, science, social-emotional development, healthy physical development and artistic expression

Experience

  • Implemented and operates 65-smart child care resource and referral line accredited by the National Association of Childcare Resource and Referral Agencies

  • Provides professional development for directors, teachers, and caregivers by offering Child Development Associates and other higher education credentials/degrees

  • Provides technical assistance and support to developing model classrooms for centers and registered family homes

  • Trains substitute teachers for child care centers and registered family homes through the ANGELS program

  • Aligned with the Texas Early Education Model (TEEM) to ensure educators are prepared to help children excel

    • Combines professional development tools with advanced technologies to enhance possibilities for teachers and pre-school children in public schools, Head Start and child care centers.
    • Provides direct early education teacher group education services and one-on-one professional teacher mentoring as well as model classroom implementation of curriculum and assessment strategies
    • Provides for monitoring and follow-up of children’s progress
  • Implements initiatives to improve the quality of child care centers and registered home providers in Bexar County
  • Partners with DCI to implement kindergarten readiness strategies in formal and informal early care and education settings
  • Operates Families and Schools Together (FAST) in Head Start centers, elementary and middle schools
  • Research-based nationally recognized curriculum that utilizes a three prong approach over a two year period to achieve positive statistically significant outcomes
    • Intensive, weekly curriculum with a family based approach
    • Ongoing monthly family support sessions designed to provide support and promote positive community involvement
    • Case management and counseling services designed to address and meet the individual and unique needs of the families participating
  • Eighty percent success rate for completing services, strengthening the family unit, increasing parental involvement in the child’s education, increasing involvement in the community while reducing social isolation, and improving the behavior and performance of children in school

  • Piloted and working with expansion of a United Way successful parent engagement program in San Antonio ISD for improved school performance
